L’équipe de « Minneapolis » - parfaitement rodée et au grand complet puisqu’on y retrouve le pianiste Tony Hymas et la rythmique Princière Michael Bland (batterie) et Sonny Thompson (basse, chant) - est renforcée cette fois-ci par la présence du guitariste philadelphien Jef Lee Johnson, révélé avec l’album News From The Jungle et entendu aux côtés de James Carter, Eryka Badu, Rachelle Ferrell, Common, entre autres.

Enregistré au cours de l’année écoulée, depuis le concert événement de Créteil, le 10 février 2001, jusqu’à l’apothéose de l’Olympia du 25 février 2002 – qui constitue l’ossature du disque – en passant par Tourcoing (10 novembre 2001) et Lyon (24 février 2002), ce nouvel album est le témoignage exceptionnel du talent et des qualités de Michel Portal en concert, mêlant sensibilité exacerbée, inspiration de tous les instants, lyrisme rare et sens du partage, le tout transcendé par quatre maîtres musiciens au sommet de leur art.
